Sortegories™ Quick Start Guide

Modified on Wed, 5 Mar at 11:03 AM

The Assign Student Activities page in One95™ displays the students in your class or care.

The drop-downs at the top of the page determine the Sortegories level and scope of students visible.

In this example, there are four students in the group. The Level A drop-down indicates we are viewing the module assignments and student progress within Level A.

The open-eye icons indicate that every student is currently assigned to Module 1.

The closed-eye icons indicate that Modules 2 through 6 are unassigned.

Students can access their assigned activities from the student flipbook at any time until the module is unassigned.

The module table is color-coded based on student progress for Module 1. The Info Key can be used to quickly reference the meaning of the table icons and colors.

To print the information within the Info Key, reference our article on Sortegories™ Info Key.

In this example, we would like to assign Module 2 to every student. We will click the closed-eye icon within the Module 2 column to assign it in bulk.

Upon review, the data for Ruth Rose indicates that she is struggling with Module 1.

  • The ROW 1 box displays an average score of 74% for Row 1: Read and Spell activities.
  • The ROW 3 box is empty, indicating Ruth has not yet started or completed an attempt for Row 3: Comprehension activities.

Because of this, we will select the open-eye icon within Ruth’s student row to unassign Module 2 and continue working with her while the rest of the group moves on.

In our next example, we are working with a new student in the group, Essie Llyod.

Essie was assigned to Module 1, which is available from her student flipbook.

Essie will select the A-1 tile to open Module 1 and select the Categorize It activity tile to launch her next activity.

The ribbons demonstrate that she has already completed the Sound Match, Map It, Build It, and Relate it activities at proficiency.

The number of ribbons is an indicator of Essie’s activity scores.

  • 80-89% earns a gold ribbon.
  • 90-99% earn gold and red ribbons.
  • 100% earns gold, red, and blue ribbons.

After completing the activity, Essie receives a score of 100%.

We can drill down into Essie’s performance from the Assign Student Activities page by clicking on her student row within the Module 1 column

From here, we can view Essie's Categorize It score of 100%, along with deeper insights into each activity attempt and the averages for each row of instruction.

We may want to continue working with Essie on high-frequency words, so we will direct her to the heart words dictionary for Level A within the flipbook's SORTEGORIES TOOLS tile, which houses teacher-directed resources.

If we want to pre-teach glossary words ahead of the Module 2 activities, we can reference the Level B glossary available in the tile. Each level features a master glossary that pulls out the words used in Relate It and Categorize It and organizes them by activity.

Additional ancillary materials to support instruction are available within the Sortegories resource tile on the Resources page.
