The Assign Student Activities page serves as the educator dashboard for 95 Phonics Lesson Library™ 2.0 (PLL 2.0) digital activity assignments and progress review.
Access the Assign Student Activities page by selecting Activities from the navigation panel.
A subskill is the unit to which you can assign students for PLL 2.0 literacy practice.
The assignments made here determine which digital activities, known as Student Activity Modules or SAMs, students can access. SAMs are a digital alternative to using physical manipulatives within each day of the five-day lesson.
The Skip to drop-down above the skill table indicates that we are viewing Skill 2.
The table columns represent the subskills related to the skill selected in the Skip to drop-down. In this example, the columns are labeled 2.1 through 2.6.
By default, student rows within collapsed columns are empty, indicating that subskills have not been assigned. As students progress through intervention, student rows may reflect one of two icons.
- Checkmark icons indicate that the subskill was previously assigned, and the student completed at least three SAMs.
- Green circle icons indicate that the subskill is currently assigned.
Hover over the Info Key button to reference the column icon criteria at any time.
By default, the status below students’ names reflects that they have not logged in to the One95™ student flipbook. The student flipbook houses students’ assigned subskills.
As students progress through intervention, the statuses will reflect Active Now or Last Active.
Active Now: This status indicates that the student is currently active or has been active in the flipbook within the last three minutes.
Last Active: This status indicates that the student is not currently active in the flipbook but has previously been active. The date on which they were last active is displayed in MM/DD/YYYY format.
Subskill columns must be expanded before assignments can be managed. Click the triangle icons in the bottom right-hand corner of each subskill column to expand them.
Within the student rows, there are five columns labeled DAY 1 through DAY 5, with each column representing one of the five lesson days. The columns list the SAMs available for that day.
Students must reach the designated criteria within their assigned SAMs for the activity to be considered complete. SAM colors are an indicator of the student’s activity status.
- Gray SAMs indicate that the activity has not been opened. This is the default state.
- Navy SAMs indicate that the activity has been opened but not completed.
- Green SAMs indicate that the activity has been completed.
Hover over the Info Key button to reference the SAM color criteria at any time.
To learn more about the SAM completion criteria, reference our article on PLL 2.0 SAM Completion Criteria.
The closed-eye icons indicate that Subskill 2.1 is unassigned.
- To assign the subskill to an individual student, select the closed-eye icon within the student’s row.
- To assign the subskill to all students displayed in the table, select the closed-eye icon within the 2.1 column.
The open-eye icon in the 2.1 column indicates that Subskill 2.1 has been assigned in bulk.
- To unassign the subskill to an individual student, select the open-eye icon within the student’s row.
- To unassign the subskill to all students displayed in the table, select the open-eye icon within the 2.1 column.
In this example, each student in the group can now access the Subskill 2.1 activities from the student flipbook.
Students can access their assigned subskills from the flipbook at any time until they are unassigned by educators, or 21 calendar days have passed. Subskills are automatically unassigned after 21 days.
Students will select the SAM tiles to open each activity.
Clicking START launches the activity in preparation for the “I Do,” “We Do,” or “You Do” stages of the lesson.
It is advisable to model the SAMs to walk students through the functionality when they are used for the first time.
Although the Teacher Presentation Files (TPFs) illustrate the activities for the “I Do” and “We Do” stages of each lesson and closely mimic the SAMs, they do not capture the specific steps for completing them.
Click the ellipsis icon within an expanded subskill column on the Assign Student Activities page to preview the related SAMs.
To learn more about navigating SAMs, reference our article on PLL 2.0 Student Activity Modules.
After the practice session is over, SAM completion data will be surfaced on the Assign Student Activities page for educator visibility across the school.
Drill down into each student’s skill progress by clicking the View Details button below their name. This provides a summary of the student’s subskill progression across one or more skills.
- Session data from the same day is combined.
- Durations are rounded up to the nearest minute.
